Titanocene Selenide Sulfides Revisited: Formation, Stabilities, and NMR Spectroscopic Properties

[TiCp2S5] (phase A), [TiCp2Se5] (phase F), and five solid solutions of mixed titanocene selenide sulfides [TiCp2SexS5−x] (Cp = C5H5−) with the initial Se:S ranging from 1:4 to 4:1 (phases B–E) were prepared by reduction of elemental sulfur or selenium or their mixtures by lithium triethylhydridoborate in thf followed by the treatment with titanocene dichloride [TiCp2Cl2]. Their 77Se and 13C NMR spectra were recorded from the CS2 solution. The definite assignment of the 77Se NMR spectra was based on the PBE0/def2-TZVPP calculations of the 77Se chemical shifts and is supported by 13C NMR spectra of the samples. In these times of precision and personalized medicine, profiling patients to identify their needs is crucial to providing the best and most cost-effective treatment. In this study, we used urine metabolomics to explore the characterization of older adults with hip fractures and to explore the forecasting of patient outcomes. Overnight urine specimens were collected from 33 patients (mean age 80 ± 8 years) after hip fracture surgery during their stay at a rehabilitation hospital. The specimens were analyzed with 1H NMR spectroscopy. In this critical review we review the problem of exchange interactions in polynuclear metal complexes involving orbitally degenerate metal ions. The key feature of these systems is that, in general, they carry an unquenched orbital angular momentum that manifests itself in all their magnetic properties. Thus, interest in degenerate systems involves fundamental problems related to basic models in magnetism. In particular, the conventional Heisenberg-Dirac-Van Vleck model becomes inapplicable even as an approximation. A DFT Study of Linear Gold–Thiolate Superclusters Absorbing in the Therapeutic NIR Window

A series of linear clusters up to an aspect ratio of 1:6, formed as multimers of smaller clusters with an icosahedral Au13(5+) core having an eight-electron superatom configuration, are computationally predicted to have a greatly enhanced size-dependent absorption in the near-infrared (NIR) region extending to the biologically important NIR window. A novel structural model is presented for the previously isolated thiol-stabilized Au54(SR)30 cluster, where the metal core is formed as a heterodimer of the cores of the known Au25(SR)18(-/0) and Au38(SR)24 clusters.

Dysbaric accidents are usually referred to compressed air-supplied diving. Nonetheless, some cases of decompression illness are known to have occurred among breath-hold (BH) divers also, and they are reported in the medical literature. A male BH diver (57 years old), underwater fishing champion, presented neurological disorders as dizziness, sensory numbness, blurred vision, and left frontoparietal pain after many dives to a 30–35 meters sea water depth with short surface intervals. Laser fluence, repetition rate and pulse duration effects on paint ablation

Abstract The efficiency (mm3/(J pulse)) of laser ablation of paint was investigated with nanosecond pulsed Nd:YAG lasers (λ = 532 nm) as a function of the following laser beam parameters: pulse repetition rate (1–10,000 Hz), laser fluence (0.1–5 J/cm2) and pulse duration (5 ns and 100 ns). In our study, the best ablation efficiency (η ≅ 0.3 mm3/J) was obtained with the highest repetition rate (10 kHz) at the fluence F = 1.5 J/cm2. This ablation efficiency can be associated with heat accumulation at high repetition rate, which leads to the ablation threshold decrease. The framework of embodied cognition has challenged the modular view of a language-cognition divide by suggesting that meaning-retrieval critically involves the sensory-motor system. Despite extensive research into the neural mechanisms underlying language-motor coupling, it remains unclear how the motor system might be differentially engaged by different levels of linguistic abstraction and language proficiency. Titanium was examined in different black tourmalines by spectrophotometric analyses in the region between 12500 and 27000 cm-1 (800-370 nm) using a microscope spectrophotometer MPV-5P, Leitz (Germany), and chemically analyzed on an electron microprobe Camebax Microbeam, Cameca (France) in WDS Mode. Fourteen tourmaline samples with their face oriented parallel to the principal axis, cut and polished down to thin sections, showed polarized spectra of two broad absorption bands at approximately 14000 cm-1 (715 nm) and 24000 cm-1 (417 nm).
